COSHH LEV for one of the UK’s Largest Universities

In early 2019 Exeter University made contact with Western Air Ducts to see whether as a company we have the scope and interest to look after the campus wide LEV systems they have.

Exeter University is one of the leading universities in the UK, and although they cover many different core subjects they are particularly strong in life sciences and medicine. They currently have almost 150 Local Exhaust Ventilation systems (LEV) of which many of them are fume cupboards within individual laboratories.

Historically the university has struggled to recruit a company who can maintain, service and COSHH LEV inspect these systems on a biannual basis, as well as provide a call out service that can have an engineer on site within a short period of time to deal with any “LEV emergency”.

They contacted Western Air Dusts as although not local we advertise our services nationally, and after conducting an initial site survey felt we had the resources and know how to provide a package of services to cater for their requirements.

We now provide a complete service of biannual COSHH LEV inspections, as well as reacting to requirements on a weekly basis if required. Our works with Exeter University complements other works for Universities we carry out.

COSHH LEV inspections are required by law on any LEV system, Western Air Ducts have a team of qualified engineers who can attend site to ensure that your systems adhere to the latest HSG258 regulations and provide you with suitable certification for your HSE requirements.
